I’m back with another review, and today I’m looking at a classic fragrance from 1978 – Azzaro pour Homme by Azzaro!
I found a 50ml vaporisateur of the fragrance at TJ Maxx for $12.99 and became enamored with it from first misting. That first spray revealed a vintage sillage beast – a bright fougere with lavender, sage, and caraway shining above all else.
Azzaro pour Homme’s drydown begins after an intense few minutes, quickly revealing a pleasing blend of basil, anise, and bergamot. Over time, notes of lime take over for sage, vetiver and juniper blossom atop the softer lavender, and lemon, patchouli, and musk close pour Homme’s day.
From professional settings to the classroom to casual get-togethers, this masculine fragrance is very well-balanced with the ability to be focused or fun. From initial spritz to its final minutes of detectability, Azzaro pour Homme delivers a surprisingly complex aromatic fragrance that, while powerful, does not overpower throughout the day.
- Concentration: Eau de Toilette
- Primary: Anise, Basil, and Bergamot
- Secondary: Lime, Sage, Juniper Berries, and Vetiver
- Tertiary: Patchouli, Musk, and Lemon
- Sillage: Wow – for the first hour or so, ApH projects in all directions! It’s not necessarily unpleasant, either (surprisingly), given how powerful the juice is.
- Longevity: On my skin, I have been able to get over 6 hours of detection whilst my clothes were not far behind at around 4.5 hours.
- Versatility: While certainly a fragrance for men, I think anyone can wear any fragrance, in the right setting. ApH is both complex and clean and, for that reason, I think it has a place in most environments.
- Originality: Coming out of the late 70’s, I was expecting a much more dated and overpowering fragrance, but pour Homme truly delivers a well-balanced fragrance for all ages.
- Packaging: Like the fragrance, itself, ApH’s bottle and box are clean and clear – I always love being able to see the color of my juice!
- Price: Given it’s availability at discount retailers, I couldn’t recommend Azzaro pour Homme much more!
- Overall: Given its age and, for the price, I am blown away by ApH! It’s a much more complex and vibrant vintage fragrance than I was expecting and would absolutely recommend it!
