The Wörld Is Yours – Mötorhead, 2010

The Wörld is Yours is dedicated to the late, great Ronnie James Dio who died of stomach cancer seven months prior to the album’s release… and it’s a crushing tribute to an epic mainman. The effort resonates as a declaration of both pride and comfortability from a band that had already conquered the wörld, but appeared to be in its twilight due to the oft-public decline of Lemmy’s health, and evidenced by the track “I Know How to Die” – an amazingly honest and self-aware song.

This was (obviously) not the case as Mötorhead soldiered on and released two incredible albums after TWiY, and they obviously take after their predecessor. The band’s production company, Mötorhead Music, was revived for the effort and it sounds nothing short of incredible. While the album may not be as heavy as Inferno, the production is better than anything they had done previously. In all, The Wörld is Yours demonstrates the band’s ability to re-approach their niche in the music world through a bevy of different and unique styles whilst taking Mötorhead to another sonic level, entirely.

In true Mötorhead fashion, the subsequent tour’s setlist relied heavily on their most recent release and spawned a rare double live album – The World is Ours. While Lemmy was obviously beginning to struggle with the physical limitations caused by his hard-partying lifestyle, his energy and desire to please fans and bring the loudest rock ‘n’ roll band in the world to every venue that would allow them to perform never, ever faded.

I love this album. I love this band. Mötorhead forever \m/\m/
