Thoughts on the Samsung Galaxy Note8 Camera

I purchased the Samsung Galaxy Note8 from a kiosk at Costco on the day the phone was launched, and one of the driving-forces of that decision was the new dual-camera setup on the flagship. With a traditional and wide-angle lens to complement its front-facing camera, the quality of the Live Focus feature is absolutely fantastic.

While the camera’s traditional cameras take photos that are not as ‘warm’ as the iPhone X and/or the Google Pixel 2 XL, Live Focus (Samsung’s answer to Apple’s Portrait Mode) is absolutely stunning, as are panoramas and 360 degree-photos. Lastly, Samsung’s image-stabilization software is currently unparalleled by any handheld device. I’ll be posting more from my honeymoon in Peru later this year!

Here’s some of my favorite shots, so far –
