Memories of My Favorite Homes – Pt. 2

Earlier in my Blog, I shared the story of my time with John Johansen, including a trip to his famous Bridge and Tent houses, as well as some of my favorite residences. Here are additional homes that have inspired me:

The Glass House – Philip Johnson – New Canaan, CT –
I’ve had the pleasure of touring this property on numerous occasions, each different from the preceding visit. The home, itself, is the highlight of the tour, but it is only part of a larger compound that housed the property’s designer – Philip Johnson – and numerous galleries. It’s more than worth the trip, and is gorgeous at night, as well.

Dana House – Ulrich Franzen – New Canaan, CT –
I had the privilege of visiting this home as part of the New Canaan Modern House Tour, and it was absolutely fascinating. At the time, it was still owned by the original commissioner of the home and still held numerous original glass panels. The natural lighting is just outrageous and the nine-acre property is stunning. I hope that it is maintained and is only changed minimally, for the better, moving forward.

Hemeroscopium House – Antón García-Abril –
This is one of my favorite homes in the entire world. Just look at it – it’s brooding, cool, fun, awkward, and everything else in between that makes it so unique.

Casa Camino – Parque Humano

Jigsaw House – David Jameson Architect

Glass/Wood House – Kengo Kuma & Associates – New Cnaan, CT
